There has been a church on this site in Walton on the Hill since 1268.

The present Church is a result of major rebuilding in 1820, with the Lady Chapel added in 1850, with its stunning altar-piece, a copy of Murillo's "The Madonna" which hangs in the Prado Museum, Madrid.
