Arranging a baptism for your child

It is the responsibility of the Church of England to provide baptism for babies whose parents live in the parish or are regular members of the worshipping community and family of the Church.

The baptism of babies is undertaken in the expectation that they will grow up within the family of the Church and learn about the Christian faith in such a way that they then are able to make an informed choice about whether they wish to be confirmed and make for themselves the promises that their parents and godparents made on their behalf.

Parents and godparents undertake, with the help of God, to draw their children by their example into the community of faith and walk with them in the way of Christ.  They promise to help their children take their place within the life and worship of Christ’s Church.

We will expect to you to regularly attend one of the services we hold at St Peter’s if you are exploring baptism as this gives us a time to get to know you and enables you to experience something of the life of the Church in which you wish your child to be baptised.

If you would like any further information on the above or to arrange a baptism at St. Peter’s please contact Harry or Leah at the church office.
